Protect your students when they are riding the school bus
to school, or when they are on field trips.

Our school bus safety shows are 100% revised and re-themed each year!
There is no cost to schools for these programs.

These programs are funded by the Province of Ontario and were developed in response to the Ontario Auditor General’s 2015 Annual Report recommendations for student school bus safety.

Who we are...

Intertrain is the premier provider of in-school, school bus safety programs in Ontario. Since 2003 we have been providing our programs to school boards across Ontario. While this site is in English, we do also provide French language programming for French school boards!

We provide schools with two age-appropriate programs:

  • For junior kindergarten to grade 3 students
  • 30 minutes in length
  • This program uses "Buster" the robotic school bus (shown above)
  • Animated characters, student volunteers
  • Our educators deliver the safety message
  • For grade 4 to grade 8 students
  • 30 minutes in length
  • Uses filmed videos, animation and games, along with the educator to deliver the safety message
  • Student volunteers also play an important role in the shows
  • Social studies themes are also incorporated to maintain student interest

This Year's Presentations

Primary Presentation (JK to grade 3):
The Safe Rider Program Starring Buster the Bus! You-Build-It!

Picture
Let Buster the Bus and his friends teach your primary students how to stay safe near the bus or when they are riding on the bus!

Topics include:
  • Walking to the school bus stop
    • Walking when there is no sidewalk
  • Waiting at the school bus stop
  • The Danger Zone
  • Getting on the school bus
  • Riding on the school bus
  • Getting off the school bus
  • Crossing in front of the school bus
And more!
This program uses Buster the robotic school bus, animated cartoon characters and a sing-along to engage students!

Students work to complete a school bus safety certificate that can be photographed for your school (or you can visit www.bussafety.ca to print a high-resolution copy).

Five students are also selected to have one-on-one interaction with Buster and to participate in the show.

Each student in attendance also receives Buster's Safety Guide to take home and review with parents!

Junior Presentation (grades 4 to 8):
The Rider Role Model Program Starring YOU! Role Models!

Picture
The Rider Role Model Program Starring YOU, teaches junior students what it means to be a positive school bus role model. The program explains the importance of behaving in a safe manner and providing the best example possible for younger students.

Topics include:
  • Walking to the school bus stop
    • Walking when there is no sidewalk
  • Waiting at the school bus stop
  • The Danger Zone
  • Riding on the school bus
    • Bullying
    • Vandalism
    • Evacuation procedures
  • Crossing in front of the school bus
And more!
This program uses 10 student volunteers pre-selected by the school. The audience is split into teams and each side competes to win the game!

Because the program is about role models, in order to retain student attention, the program shows examples of role models the same age as those in the audience. This year's examples come from the world of the arts!

This program is age-appropriate and uses animation, music, film, and interactive games to drive home the safety message.

Student participants come to the front of the gym and "buzz-in" in order to be the first to try and answer the skill testing question.
Important information for schools:
** Programs are held in your gymnasium **
» Two trainers will report to your Front Office 30-45 minutes prior to show start time
» Trainers require 30 to 45 minutes for setup
» Once set up, trainers will notify you that it is okay to begin bringing students to the gymnasium
» Presentations are about 30 minutes in length from the time students are seated and ready
» Schools should begin loading students into the gym at least 10 minutes prior to show-time so that the shows can start on time.
» If possible, please assign a 'teacher in charge' for supervising all students.
» Our trainers bring all AV equipment required (nothing is required from the school)
